Wine Advocate-Parker :
I had given an uninspired score to this wine (86 points) when it was first released, and when discussing this fact with Ugo Lequio, he suggested I try another bottle with the distance of time. He had doubt about the integrity of some of his samples made available back then. It is not my policy to re-taste or re-score wines, but I was pleased to do so in this case. The 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Gallina is out of the market by now. This second sample shows a wine that has found balance and integrity, revealing ripe aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, smoke and tar. You taste the ripeness of the vintage, but the wine shows no excessive signs of premature oxidation.
